Advocate for Your Students: Register Today for Joint Legislative Conference Join MSBA — along with the Association of Minnesota Counties, Minnesota Association of Townships, and League of Minnesota Cities — for a day of advocacy Thursday, March 25, at the Crowne Plaza in St. Paul. The day’s schedule includes a panel of legislative leaders, a legislative update from your MSBA lobbyists, and meetings with your local senators and representatives.

NEW 2010 School Board Election Timelines Now Available Because of a new law that will move the primary from September to August, election timelines for all districts will change. MSBA, working with the Minnesota Secretary of State's Office, has posted new timelines for school district election officials.

 Playground Grants Available through MSBA Playground Compliance Program MSBA is pleased to announce the “Outdoor Play Grants” for Minnesota schools. These grants will serve to assist communities to build environmentally friendly, healthy, safe and accessible play areas for their children and are available for a limited time.
MSBA will provide matching cash grants of a minimum of $2,000 to a maximum of $15,000 to eligible candidates who demonstrate a strong desire to improve the overall safety, accessibility and health of their play areas. Any school, government or nonprofit entity is an eligible applicant. Multiple applications from an entity are acceptable.

 2010 MSBA Student School Board Member Scholarship Applications MSBA will reward two high school seniors $3,000 each as part of the continuing MSBA Student School Board Member Scholarship Program.
Eligible students will fill out a short application, write a brief one-page paper and send in two letters of recommendation -- one from a board member and one from a school superintendent, principal or employee who can comment on the student's School Board service. All materials must be mailed or e-mailed to Greg Abbott at MSBA by April 1.
